Application of CostOS

CostOS became a vital tool in facilitating progressive technical reviews and ensuring rigorous project assurance. It also played a key role in enhancing coordination and integration across the project team (e.g., client, supply chain, designers). This was accomplished by establishing and maintaining a high level of integration (over 90%) between the Bill of Quantities and the work-in-progress BIM model (updated bi-weekly), ensuring the entire project team had access to a live narrative of the developing design. As a result, the team was able to design within budget constraints by continuously monitoring and evaluating the impact of changes, enabling early decision-making and proactive mitigation. The successful implementation of this strategy was driven by the adoption of the highways method of measurement as the common language to communicate emerging solutions, including design, construction methodology, and procurement.

  • BIM Take-off: Ensured accuracy in quantity estimations and aided in better project planning and resource allocation. With CostOS, the BIM take-off process is streamlined, reducing manual errors and improving efficiency, resulting in a more accurate and reliable foundation for project cost estimating, helping to keep the project on budget and on schedule.
  • Detailed Cost Estimates: Created detailed cost estimates and generated precise cost predictions with a level of detail and flexibility ensuring that the project remains financially viable and within budget constraints.
  • Version Control: Robust version control features track and manage changes in project estimates and plans. This ensures that all stakeholders have access to the latest information, reducing the risk of discrepancies and miscommunications. Version control allows for the comparison of different versions of estimates, providing transparency and accountability.
